K9 Walter is a typical Poodle and was a challenge to train for our staff.  Walter was on his Poodle delay - where you ask the dog to do something and then the Poodle thinks about it and sees if it fits what they want to do. It took patience to train Walter and he was as stubborn as possible.  Some of the favourite things for Walter to do during training - selective listening, sitting infront of the TV so you couldn’t watch, stare at you for a good 30 seconds before coming to you - just generally acting like a Poodle.  K9 Walter then decided to start being a service dog when matched and has been an amazing addition to his partner from the Courageous Companions program for veterans and first responders. Walter has now travelled internationally and one of his favourite sites is Disney Land and his Caribbean cruise. Walter has turned into an amazing service dog and the team has bonded and is working extremely well together.
