Psychiatric Service Dogs
Psychiatric Service Dogs are by far most asked about for obtaining or training. Psychiatric is mostly an umbrella term for mental disabilities such as PTSD, Bipolar, Anxiety, and other complex mental disorders. Psychiatric Service Dogs can help tremendously with these disorders and we have had huge success in training for them, from Veterans with crippling PTSD/PTSIs to people who are a prisoner to their own minds, each and every dog is tailored to match the needs of their prospective handler. With mental disorders being as complex as they are it is hard to separate exact categories for each disability, instead, we have compiled just a few of the many different disorders that we have had success with.
**Please note that we understand the complexity of each and every mental disorder and know that it is not as black and white as it can sometimes be laid out as.
PTSD
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a psychiatric disorder that can occur following the experience or witnessing of life-threatening events such as military combat, natural disasters, terrorist incidents, serious accidents, or physical or sexual assault in adult or childhood. Most survivors of trauma return to normal given a little time. However, some people will have stress reactions that do not go away on their own or may even get worse over time.
