MSAR DOG TRAINER PROGRAMS

MSAR CERTIFIED DOG TRAINER PROGRAM - LEVEL 1 (Service Dogs) (Cost $15,000)

 

PART 1  Prerequisites:

To gain access to the MSAR Dog Training Program the following courses must be completed with a passing grade.

  1. Dog Trainer Course International Correspondence School  (8 - 10 months)
  2. Canine First Aid Course (3 months)
  3. Canine Reactive Behaviour Course (4 months)
  4. Canine Care and Grooming (2 months)

 

PART 2  PRACTICUM & MSAR SERVICE DOG TRAINING COURSES

Course Length 3-5 years 

Mentorship with one of MSAR’s Master Trainers which includes:

  • Three years of training to learn the types of service dogs
  • Equipment used for service dogs
  • How place
  • Hand over and place service dogs
  • Public access
  • Kennel care
  • Canine nutrition
  • Administration
  • Organizational operations
  • Service dogs standards
  • Testing and certificate procedures to become a service dog

Participants must also train four types of service dogs in a progressive manner while under the supervision of a Master Dog trainer. The dogs are selected from the Autism, PTSD, Mobility Assistance, and Specialty Dog profiles.  Training Practicums are 2 weeks - 4 weeks at a time and take place in Winnipeg
